2018 wing/forward Avery Lewis had one of the more complete performances of the Motor City Roundball Classic, including two game winning free throws to seal a victory in OT. Hit the jump for fresh highlights of the Ann Arbor Huron senior.
Avery was superb as a playmaker from the wing, penetrating the defense and drawing 2-3 defenders before dropping off dimes to teammates for easy layups all game long. His vision at a legit 6’6 is special, he had a Ben Simmons like impact on this game with his ability to create shots for others. While Lewis is a phenomenal passer, he was able to put the ball in the basket as well, finishing with 11 points. The River Rat wing was at his best driving to the rim and converting in traffic or drawing fouls and hitting at the charity stripe. Avery also added a few offensive rebounds and putbacks at critical times in the game. On the other side of the court Lewis provided great rim protection, rotating over and blocking a few shots to prevent easy looks. Avery is one of the more versatile prospects in the Midwest, able to play up to 3 different positions on either side of the court in high school with great impact. Not often do you find an ambidextrous 6’6 playmaking wing with tremendous vision and defensive versatility. See below for highlights.
