Freshman Julian Roper had a huge performance versus Detroit Catholic Central. Hit the jump for fresh highlights of the versatile and skilled 6’2 guard out of Detroit Country Day.

Julian had the full arsenal on display Friday evening. He created his own shot all day long, able beat defenders off the dribble from the wing before knocking down midrange jumpers with consistency. Roper has a high release point and great balance on his shot. While his scoring ability is certainly impressive, his vision and passing ability are special. Although he plays as more of an off-ball shooting guard, Julian repeatedly found teammates with precision passes off the dribble for easy dumpoffs once the helpside defense commited. There are certainly some point-guard like qualities to his game. Roper’s versatility is intriguing, as he was able to post up smaller guards in the paint before elevating over his defender to finish and provided some rim protection by blocking a few shots. We really love Julian’s upside as combo-guard that can play on-ball or off-ball with good size 6’2, strength to absorb contact, a nice looking perimeter stroke and excellent playmaking ability. See  below for highlights.
