Tulsa Memorial (OK) junior Kalib Boone showed a versatile skillset at the Elite 14 Showcase. Hit the jump for fresh film on the 6’8 forward.

This was our first live viewing of Kalib, and his combination of athleticism and height/length is tremendous at 6’8 with a wingspan that is likely near 7 feet. He used that length to crash the offensive boards for several putbacks, including a tip-dunk on a crowd of Norman defenders that had those in the stands buzzing. Defensively, Boone blocked and altered several shots on both the perimeter and the interior.  He ran the floor extremely well for a prospect of his size, and is a very fluid athlete that can finish around the rim with soft touch. While Kalib is primarily an interior prospect at this point in his development, he had a few sequences where he displayed a plus handle and ability to change direction from the high-post as a face-up forward. He also was able to knock down a few midrange jumpers with solid mechanics and a high release point. The best thing about Boone at this point is upside, as he’s nowhere close to reaching his ceiling and that is a scary proposition. Already a plus athlete with a versatile skillset, once Kalib adds 25 pounds of muscle mass and refines his game a bit more, he has all the tools to be an impact two-way wing/forward at the high-major level. See below for highlights.
