2018 guard Trey Doomes had a superb Summer with Nike Team Florida on the EYBL circuit. Hit the jump to get the latest on his recruitment as he heads down the home stretch of his decision-making process.
The athletic 6’3 combo-guard capped off an impressive July by averaging 15.7 points, 3.8 assists and 6 rebounds per game on an incredible 61% from the field during Peach Jam. Known as a superb finisher that thrives getting to the basket, Doomes has made big strides with his perimeter shot over the past year.
“This Summer on the circuit I feel like I played good overall. Definitely my jumpshot and my defense improved tremendously over the Summer. I’ve been working on my shot and trying to make myself more a threat from behind the arch.”
Trey recently took an official visit to Middle Tennessee and has high remarks for the Blue Raiders.
“My first official visit to Middle Tennessee was great, I had a good time and enjoyed it. I visited with teammate KJ Buffen and he actually ended up committing there.”
Doomes has locked in a second official visit this weekend to West Virginia with OSU, Clemson, Baylor, Memphis, Alabama, Minnesota and Vanderbilt all showing interest at as well.
While Trey has a lot of options, he has no intentions of dragging out his decision to the Spring.
“I don’t have an exact timeline but I’ll be signing in the November period.”
With high-majors emerging as potential suitors, it’s anyone’s guess where Doomes ultimately ends up. Wherever he ends up, that program is going to get a guard with very good athletic abilities, good size and a rapidly improving perimeter shot to go along with the tools to be a great on-ball defender.
