West Bloomfield guard Donavan Moore is on the verge of blowing up after a strong Summer on the AAU circuit with the Illinois Irish. Hit the jump as Moore goes in-depth about his Summer play and recruitment.
The 6’3 guard caught some eyes on the AAU circuit as an athletic guard that can create his own offense off the dribble and knock down perimeter shots.
“My greatest strengths are my ballhandling, being able to break my defender down, getting to the basket and defending. Additionally, being able to locate and get the ball to my open teammates.”
Donavan was pleased with his overall play this Summer with the Illinois Irish on the NY2LA circuit.
“I thought it was a very position experience. I feel that I was able to execute most of the things that I have been working on.”
Coaches agree with that assessment, as Moore has picked up offers from Oakland University, University of Detroit, Toledo, Bradley, IUPUI, North Dakota, Tennessee State and UIC within the past 4 months alone.
In addition to the aforementioned offers, Donavan is getting high-major interest from a few B10 programs.
“I have received interest from Michigan, Miami (OH), Ohio State, Central Michigan, and Northern Michigan.”
While Moore is still in the infancy stages of his recruitment, he does have a visit set up for this weekend.
“My Grandfather and I are currently in the process of lining up visits. I will be attending Michigan State for the football game vs Notre Dame tomorrow with one of the coaches from my AAU team, The Family. I am looking forward to meeting Coach Izzo.”
On the court, Donavan is looking to lead his West Bloomfield squad to a deep run in the State playoffs while continuing to develop his overall game.
“My Grandfather and coach are constantly helping me improve in all aspects of my game. I want to help contribute to my team goals and hopefully have a good run to become state champs.”
Moore will certainly be one to track moving forward. He has great physical tools in terms of straight line speed, lateral agility and explosion around the rim. His range extends beyond the 3 point line and is a great shot creator that embraces physicality.
