2019 post Jalen Thomas was impressive at the NEO Spotlight Top 20 Combine. Hit the jump for highlights of the high upside big man out of UofD Jesuit.
During drill work Jalen was burying triples coming off screens in impressive fashion. During games he was extremely active on the glass on both ends of the court, giving multiple jumps and coming down with rebounds in traffic on numerous possessions. Matched up with Alonzo Gaffney on both ends of the court when they squared off in game 1, Thomas was able to pick his pocket clean on 2 occasions leaving some in the crowd a bit surprised. Offensively he didn’t score a ton, but showed really nice vision once the helpside defense brought the double team to him on the block. Jalen has really soft hands and a nice jump-hook over his left shoulder as a back to the basket scorer. More than anything, he doesn’t need to score to impact the game, his motor never stopped going and he rebounded as well as anyone at the event and was a plus rim protector. Already holding a Division I offer from Toledo, he’s going to be a dominant post player in a few years once his frame fills out and he can absorb contact in the paint. See below for highlights.
