2019 big man Tyreek Smith is showing a ton of promise playing up a year with Houston Hoops on the EYBL circuit. The 6’9 sophomore is an athletic, high-upside prospect that may come into his own sooner rather than later.

Tyreek has great physical tools at 6’9 with good length and a great frame. He’s very athletic and mobile for a post player and has natural quick-twitch explosion. At this point is his development, Tyreek is already a very good rim protector and rebounder. Tyreek has great timing with his on-ball and helpside shot-blocking and rarely fouls the opposition. As a rebounder, Smith high points the ball and gives multiples jumps on the glass. On the offensive side, Tyreek has very soft hands and shows ability to catch passes in tight spaces. He rim runs extremely well and makes himself an available target. Smith is a good finisher around the rim and will elevate over the defense or get his body into the chest of the defense to create space. A year from now, Tyreek is likely to be a prospect with a high-major recruitment if he continues to develop. See below for highlights.
