RM5 guard Tyrese Maxey had a superb weekend during EYBL Session 2 in Indianapolis. Scout’s #17 player in the country for 2019 solidified himself as one of the best prospects in the country on the big stage.
Tyrese displayed elite scoring ability, scoring at all 3 levels from a variety of different spots on the court. Maxey really thrived shooting off the dribble, where he buried difficult shots consistently from both midrange and beyond the arch. He’s a good finisher that utilizes superior body control and strength to convert at the rim. While his scoring prowess is among the very best in the country, Tyrese really impressed me with his willingness and ability as an on-ball defender. He was able to stay in front of some of the very best guards in the country in isolation situations and generally made life difficult for the opposition that way. Did I mention that Tyrese is playing up a year? For the weekend Maxey averaged 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game while shooting better than 49% from the field. See below for highlights
