I. AAU & SELF ANALYSIS
EM: Congrats on the great Spring/Summer, you turned some heads with your ability. Can you tell us how things went for Mac Irvin as a team and for you individually?
CB: My summer was a huge leap for me since I was previously playing on a more local team that didn’t play in many big tournaments. I joined Mac Irvin Fire 15u in the spring then got moved up to 16u after a few tournaments and played with them the rest of the season. The season went real well.
EM: Can you describe your game for those that are not familiar?
CB: My game over the summer was mostly defensive and rebounding driven, and I would get most of my points running the floor and on post moves. I’ve been working a lot on my offense and you’ll see a lot more of that this season.
EM: How often do you work on your game?
CB: Every day for at least 2 hours usually more and I focus on a lot of shooting and post moves. I also do some dribbling and hand stuff.
II. ACADEMICS AND OFF-COURT INTERESTS
EM: Can we talk a bit about your interests as a student, what is your favorite subject?
CB: My favorite subject is definitely science and basketball really motivates me to do well in school so I make sure to stay on top of things.
EM: What do you plan to major in when attending college?
CB: I would go into pre-med and study physiology and then later go to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.
EM: What are your interests off the court?
CB: When I’m not playing basketball or studying, I’m usually hanging out with my friends or chilling at home. My family also does a lot of traveling and that always excites me to meet new people.
EM: Any college campuses you want to get out to and visit?
CB: I’d like to check out University of California, Berkeley, UCLA, Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan State and Duke. but I’m open to checking out other colleges that have interest in me.
EM: What factors are important to you and your family when making your college decision?
CB: My family supports me in any decision I would make, but academics would also be a factor in deciding my school.
IV. PERSONAL GOALS & ADVICE
EM: Any personal goals on or off the court?
CB: Just to keep improving my game and get to the top step by step. I know I can get there and I just have to keep practicing.
EM: Last, if you could give the youth some advice on how to succeed either on or off the court, what would you say?
CB: I came to the game late and it took a lot to get where I am and I’m not stopping. You just have to stay focused on the nd product and don’t get distracted by anything else. Keep your goal in mind and do what you must to achieve it.
