Ryan Wade is an elite student-athlete currently attending Skyline High School in Ann Arbor Michigan. Ryan is one of the most highly coveted high school prospects in Michigan, currently ranked the #15 player in the state for 2019 per Prep Hoops. The 6’1 guard is a natural scorer with a great jumpshot and the ability to beat defenders off the dribble, while having the court vision to get easy buckets for teammates.

EM: Can you tell us how things went this summer for the Michigan Gators as a team and for you individually?

RW: The first half of the season we got off to a pretty slow start. I wasn’t playing at the time because I was still rehabbing from my ACL surgery and we added some new pieces. But when we started to pick up playing with each other again , things started getting a lot better. We started winning more in tournaments and most of all we had fun. And individually, I think I did a fine job considering I only played for the month of July after being out of the game for close to a year with my injury.

EM: Can you describe your game for those that are not familiar?

RW: I can shoot the rock. But aside from that I have a high IQ on the court. Knowing where to pick my spots to get shots off, knowing where to rotate on defense. And I’m competitive. Whenever I step on the court I give it everything I got.

EM: How often do you work on your game?

RW: Everyday I do something that can help improve my game, whether that’s conditioning, getting stronger, or working on my game in the gym.

EM: Can we talk a bit about your interests as a student, what is your favorite subject?

RW: My interest in Business.

EM: What do you plan to major in when attending college?

RW: I want to study Business in college as well. I don’t know what specifically yet. I just know something in that Business field is what I want to pursue.

EM: What are your interests off the court?

RW: I like to be with my family, also my teammates and friends. But I also like to play a little golf when I get the chance.

EM: Shifting a bit to recruiting, can you tell us which schools have offered?

RW: Toledo

EM: Which schools show interest that haven’t yet offered?

RW: EMU, Akron, Northern Illinois, and UofD

EM: Any visits lined up in the near future?

RW: Going to visit U of D and Eastern sometime this fall. Just this past summer I went to Toledo and Akron. Then I went to Northern Illinois elite camp and got to see they’re campus a little bit . But that’s all I’m sure of right now.

EM: What factors are important to you and your family when making your college decision?

RW: Somewhere that feels like home. Being close with the coaching staff and feeling I will fit within the system. Also somewhere that will better me off the court and give me a good education.

EM: Any personal goals on or off the court?

RW: I want to win a state championship, I want to be considered one of the best shooters in the state by the end of high school and I want to graduate with above a 3.5 GPA.

EM: Last, if you could give the youth some advice on how to succeed either on or off the court, what would you say?

RW: You got to want it and you got to love it. You have to be ready to grind and sacrifice to separate yourself from others.
