Spencer Brown is an elite student-athlete currently attending Walled Lake Northern High School in metropolitan Detroit. Spencer is making waves across Michigan with his sensational play on the gridiron early in the football season. The 6’6 defensive lineman has a very nice combination of size, strength, and quick feet that make him an enticing prospect at the college level on either side of the ball. Just starting his recruitment process, Spencer is sure to accrue an extensive offer sheet with continued quality play during the 2016 season.
I. HS SEASON & SELF ANALYSIS
EM: Can you tell us how things are going for Walled Lake Northern as a team and for you individually?
SB: We’re doing good this year, better than people thought. Everybody was kind of skeptical coming into the year. We get compared to Walled Lake Western, and we’re really trying compete and go to states this year. I feel like my performance is better this year. I’m up to 250 and I help the team with my defense and getting off the ball. I’m a lot stronger this year and starting to dominate. This year has been a complete 180 turnaround.
EM: Can you describe your game for those that are not familiar?
SB: Mostly this year I play Defensive Tackle, but I do rotate to Defensive End. I’m transitioning to Left Tackle some on offense as well. I like to prove people wrong and play with a chip on my shoulder. My game is power based, I like to hit and make a statement. I really like to model my game after Sean Taylor. I like to have fun on the field and be a team player and do what the team needs, and just play with heart.
EM: What did you work on during the off-season?
SB: I put in a lot of work in the off-season, I worked out with Mike Knight to improve my strength and conditioning to get a stronger base and more athletic. I also worked with Reggie Wynns with my technique as far as coming off the ball and more on-field type of things.
